A dedicated & talented family
In gratitude and tribute to my great family, I am grateful to my wife and children for their continuous support. My wife Karen, the Child Psychologist, who is determined to keep parent/child communication channels open. She has a B. Sc. Degree summa cum laude in Child Development and M. Sc. Degree in Child Psychology. She is a Childcare Psychologist and Expert in Parent/Child Communication Techniques. With the help of parents, she founded and started a Coastside Infant/Toddler Center (CITC) from scratch 27 years ago, without any assistance from local, state or federal government and is considered unique and a model in the community and the nation. Parents and private fund raisers support the center. Several San Francisco Bay Area foundations, notably among those such as United Way, David & Lucile Packard Foundation, BankAmerica Foundation and many others are firm supporters of the center. The center has provided quality child care to thousands of families in the bay area since 1978. She retired in 2006 to pursue higher goals.
Our youngest son, Andrew, a top athlete and an honors student, graduated in November 2000 with B.Sc. degree in Environmental Sciences and Management from University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. He finished one year in B.Sc. in Biology and was on Dean Honors' list at Humboldt State University before leaving for South Africa. His expertise is in Biology, Bio Resources, Computer Science, Pedology, Soils and Environment. He is a certified Rescue Diver. He worked for Essex Environmental over a year in Environmental Management, Planning, Inspection areas and developed Project Deliverable Tracking System. He just finished his Masters Degree with honors in Environmental Sciences (Natural Resources Management/ Agricultural Development) at Royal University of Agriculture & Veterinary, University, Copenhagen, Denmark. Presently, he is working as Field Biologist for a major electric utility company. Lt. Kevin, the Defender, who is determined to defend our nation and keep it stronger. Our middle one, Kevin, also a top athlete, a 1996 honors graduate of University of California, Berkeley, graduated and was commissioned as an Ensign with honors in honor class 22-00 on July 21, 2000 at the graduation and officer commissioning ceremonies at the United
States Navy's Officer Candidate School on board the beautiful Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida, the Cradle of Naval Aviation.
He got his Wings on December 14, 2001 at Naval Flight Officer Designation Ceremony. He earned his distinction by making the Commodore's List and was awarded William A. Cohen Leadership Award. He is a Lieutenant (equivalent to Captain in the Army) and flies EA-6B Prowler soon to be replaced by F/A-18E. Naval Flight Officers are the best trained and most highly skilled military flight officers in the world. After two successful tours of Afghanistan with his squadron under Operation Enduring Freedom, Navy selected him in 2005 to attend the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey to pursue his Masters Degree in international relations. He graduated in June 2007 with honors. He got married on October 6, 2007 to Holly, she is a graduate of Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland.
Michelle, the Teacher, who is determined to educate our children to stay ahead and prepare them to meet future challenges.
Our eldest, Laura Michelle, graduated at age 21 with honors B. A. Degree in Literature and Education from Princeton University, New Jersey in June 1992. She chose to spend two years in Paraguay, South America, as a Teacher Trainer Consultant appointed by Peace Corps and helped implement a teaching curriculum for use at primary school level. She obtained an additional Masters Degree in Education from San Francisco State University and graduated in 1998. She is a Specialist in Early Child Education and distinguished herself in November, 2001 as a National Certified Teacher certified by National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), one of the under 2000 nationally certified teachers in the nation.She was recently named University of California Summer Fellow and Teacher Consultant for the University of California at Berkeley/Bay Area Writing Project. She is married now and has a baby son Gabriel.
Presently, she teaches and trains teachers in early childhood education.
